Robert Rodriguez

Lead Pastor

Pastor Rob has a passion for leading congregations into a well-balanced ministry including strong Bible-based teaching and missional living.  

At Solid Rock, Rob is responsible for preaching/teaching, vision, and administration. He is an elder, our main platform speaker, leads the church staff, is over day-to-day operations, and serves on the management board (non-voting).  He was first ordained in April 2002 and is credentialed as a lead pastor within our denomination, the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches.

He previously served as a lead pastor in the Greater Philadelphia area for 5 years; and before that, he served as a church planter and church planters' pastor/coach in the Metro NYC area for 6 years.

Rob started his career as a youth pastor in Georgia for 3 years, and then served as a pastor for 6 years in Western New Jersey.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Pastoral Ministries and also a Master of Theology (Th.M.) in Systematic Theology.  He also has marketplace skillsets in areas of sales and business systems.

Rob serves on the Board of Trustees at America's Keswick and 628 Ministries . He also serves on the advisory boards for both church planting networks he's served.

He has been married to his wife Rebecca since August 2002  and they have four children - three in high school (with two graduating in May), and one who works locally in Archbold and serves as a youth leader.

Sheldon Sutton

Administration / Groups  & Family Coordinator

Sheldon is a veteran of the agricultural world, working in customer service and product development for 29 years.  Sheldon loves to laugh and loves to spend time with and spread joy to others! He has been involved with multiple ministries at "the Rock," including Community Groups leadership and Children's Ministry.

Sheldon serves as our office manager, communications liaison, management board Recorder (non-voting), and assists Pastor Rob with whatever he needs.  He is credentialed for ministry within the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches.

He is an avid drummer of over 40 years, having traveled with Christian bands, as well as ministering for nearly 25 years with his home church worship band.

Sheldon and Gina have been married since 1997 and have been blessed with three children.

Jeff Yerington

Youth Group Coordinator

Jeff is a truck driver and owned his trucking company for years.  Jeff loves to serve God in the local church, and is called to work with teenagers! He has been involved with our Men's and children's multiple ministries at "the Rock," while enrolled in the Associates in Bible Degree program at Colorado Christian University.

Jeff serves as the coordinator for our X-Change Youth Group - managing our weekly youth gatherings, in-house events, and day/overnight trips.

He has been a layman for many years serving in local churches and was even an active member in Christian motorcycle ministries.

Jeff and Amanda have been married since 2017 and have been blessed with two small children living at home and a few older ones living on their own. They welcomed their latest grandchild in December 2023.

Kelly Colon, MSW, LISW

Counselor-in-Residence

Kelly is a licensed Christian counselor and previously served as the Patient Experience Director for CHWC Bryan Hospital.  Kelly loves to serve the Church and our surrounding communities. She has been involved with children and women's ministries at "the Rock," including teaching.

Kelly heads up our counseling ministry in partnership with Joy Fruchey, MSW, LISW-S, CTS (Wauseon, OH).

Kelly and Dave have been married for over 10 years and have been blessed with a son, Weston.

Youth Pastor - NOW HIRING

Solid Rock Community Church (SRCC) in West Unity, Ohio is looking for a Youth Pastor to join their team. At SRCC, the student ministry exists to build a student community where people far from God can come to know Jesus personally and be a force for good in their world. The Youth Pastor would provide leadership for the junior high ministry and high school ministry. With teams already in place, the director would have hands-on opportunities to shape a student ministry culture that disciples and empowers teenagers to live for Jesus. In addition to weekly programming, there are great opportunities to step into as well as strengthen winter camps, summer missions, outreaches, and other events that help invigorate the student culture.

What you’ll be doing:
• Setting and implementing goals for the volunteer leaders
• Creating winsome environments for students
• Developing and coaching student & adult leaders for ministry success
• Writing, gathering, and preparing large & small group materials
• Recruiting, leading, and developing volunteer teams
• Utilizing time before and after weekly gathering to create ministry visibility and awareness

What skills you need to have:
• Gospel fluency -understanding how the Gospel relates to all aspects of life
• Student oriented -must love and be able to connect with students
• People-focused -easily connects well with others with a servant’s heart
• Coach-minded -willing to build up and direct teams & individuals for ministry success

Solid Rock Community Church is located in the northwest corner of Ohio. Our local community provides an incredible opportunity to put the gospel on display in visible and tangible ways as we seek to reach everyone in every situation with the life-changing hope of Jesus. The Williams County area has great small towns to live in with shopping and entertainment less than an hour away. The communities are situated close to many family farms, employment opportunities trails, bike paths, and outdoor experiences. The area is a short drive from a downtown culture in Toledo, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Small, but great school districts are also nearby making the area a great place for families.

Solid Rock Community Church is in fellowship with the  Fellowship of Evangelical Churches. All applicants will need to be already credentialed by the FEC, or willing and able to go through the credentialing process very soon after being hired.

Worship & Creative Lead - NOW HIRING

Solid Rock Community Church in West Unity, Ohio, is in search of their next Worship and Creative Pastor. This person will serve as part of the office staff, providing leadership for people involved in worship arts and other related ministries. This includes leading worship and investing in the worship team in a way that develops the heart and skills of the team – empowering them to call the church to rich, spiritual worship.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Leadership – working with the other pastors to preserve sound doctrine, protect the church, and proactively lead the church to experience and share the hope of Jesus.
  • Vision – setting vision for the worship and tech team that directly supports the vision and values set by the Lead Pastor and leadership of “the Rock.”
  • Team Building – recruiting, discipling, and equipping people to serve in the worship ministries of the church. 
  • Training or facilitating training for singers and instrumentalists - shepherding, coaching, and caring for all worship team volunteers, taking key leaders to other services, conferences, and meetings that will help equip them for the work of the ministry.
  • Worship Leading – planning and leading weekly worship that reflects true worship of God through music, scripture, and other creative mediums. (The Worship and Creative Lead will normally be on stage about 3 out of 4 weeks.) Building, directing, coordinating, and developing the worship band/vocalists/tech crew. Leading weekly rehearsals for the band and scheduling team members.

What skills you need to have:
  • Ability to teach and read music
  • Proficiency on a primary instrument
  • A lifestyle of relational evangelism
  • Ability to plan ahead
  • Ability to disagree agreeably
  • Knowledge of and trust in God’s Word
