Church Leadership @ SRCC

The Elder Board is a group of spiritually gifted and mature Christian men who have been called by God to serve together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the obligations of the membership covenant. They lead our Church in carrying out its vision and pursuing an effective ministry by shepherding, modeling, teaching, and managing. This group includes all the members of the Pastoral staff, and is required by the constitution to include at least two additional men.

In addition to our Pastoral staff, our Elder Board currently includes three men who have also been called by God and their Church family and affirmed by the membership:
 Brian & Debbie Spencer
 Jim & Shannon Hicks

 Tom & Jean Paisley

Leadership Community

In addition to our Elder Board, there are two other primary Church Leadership Communities that are distinct from, but equal to, each other. These are the Management Board and the Missions Board. The Elder Board has oversight of the Leadership Communities, providing direction to them and ensuring that communication among them remains healthy and strong. All the Leadership Communities work together and meet together at least once a month.

Management Board

The Management Board is responsible for the overall administration of the Church and its physical resources. The Board is also responsible for the accurate and timely implementation of and adherence to the SRCC Constitution. They also serve as the Finance Committee for SRCC and manage the financial resources based on the approved budget. They oversee all legal and financial matters and provide for the care and maintenance of all properties owned by SRCC. The Board also endeavors to inspire the SRCC membership to practice Biblical stewardship in the area of finances, involving the members in formation and approval of an annual budget and keeping the members informed of SRCC’s financial health.

The Management Board has 7 members: a Church Treasurer, 3 Trustees, and 3 people who serve in a broad capacity. The Church Treasurer is appointed by the current Elders and the Management Board. The Trustees are elected at the Annual Business Meeting for 3-year terms, after which they may be re-affirmed by the membership. The Trustees are responsible for seeing that the day-to-day maintenance and physical needs of the church building and grounds are being met. The members who are elected at the Annual Business Meeting serve for 3-year terms after which they may be re-affirmed by the membership. They serve in staggered terms with one rotating off each year unless re-affirmed.

They also involve the SRCC family in global missions and work to inspire them to prayerfully and financially fulfill the Scriptural command to be Christ’s witnesses to the ends of the earth.

The Board includes up to 10 members: an Elder representative appointed by the Elder Board to serve for 2 years; up to 7 people who are appointed by the Elder Board to serve staggered 3-year terms; and 2 members who serve staggered 2-year terms. Priesthood of All Believers

Ephesians 4:11-13 [11] It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, [12] to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up [13] until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

It is the desire of those in leadership at SRCC to "prepare God's people for works of service." We take God at His word when He says that every believer is called, gifted, and essential. Therefore, we invite the Body as a whole to participate in meaningful service where they can declare God's praises!
